John Gulyas is a former United States Marine. He has worked in law enforcement as a detective in the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and as a Corrections Officer in the Somerset County Jail. While working as a Corrections Officer he attended Rutgers University and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Thereafter, he attended Seton Hall School of Law graduating in 1998.
He began his career as a civil litigator with a prominent personal injury firm representing injured plaintiffs. He later moved ot the firm of Heim and McEnroe, an insurance defense firm for Chubb Insurance, where he continues to handle civil litigation actions. He departed from insurance defense work in 2015 and we to work for the Law Offices of Maria A. Turco, where he continued to handle civil litigation.
John joined the newly formed firm of Barr & Gulyas in 2020, where his legal practice continues to focus on civil litigation representing clients in personal injury matters, contract disputes, municipal court and landlord/tenant court. John has also expanded his practice to include appearances before Board of Adjustment regarding land use matters and the negotiation of contracts for sale, purchase and leasing of commercial real estate.
